Microwaved cat Bousbous now ready to be adopted

A few weeks ago a video was uploaded and quickly shared to thousands of a cat being forced into a microwaved. The small orange and white cat was shoved inside and the microwave turned on. The person in the video then takes her out for some seconds before she is shoved back inside, this time the frighten cat struggles harder to prevent this. The microwave is then turned on again before the cat is taken out and the video ends.

This understandably prompted a lot of negative comments and media coverage for the cat to be removed. We immediately offered to care for this cat and make sure she is healthy and adopted into a home that can give her the care she needs.

At the same time we are seeing what options might be available if the cat was not willingly turned over to us. The two young men that did this and posted the film, Hassan and Mohammed, were contacted by comedian (and supporter of Animals Lebanon) Nemr Abou Nasser, urging them to turn over the cat and do all they can to correct this.

Just days after the video was posted a meeting was arranged and Hassan and Mohammed arrived to the Animals Lebanon Center with Bousbous, a small orange and white female.

The eight month old cat was not vaccinated and had never been to a vet.

Bousbous is now ready to be adopted. She has been to the vet, received all of her vaccines, and is healthy and confident enough to be adopted.

This young cat has been through worse than many animals we rescue. After such a terrible start to life she needs a second chance.

Is your loving home the one to give Bousbous the second chance she need?

Call now on 01 751 678 or email adopt@animalslebanon.org and you can make sure this holiday season is a great one for Bousbous.

What has caused such outrage, and rightly so, was unfortunately just one example of the animal abuse that occurs on a regular basis. We need to do all we can to ensure the draft law for the protection and welfare of animals is enacted and enforced. The next time something like this happens the comments should not be 'what can we do' or 'what can be done', but instead 'this is illegal and we know what to do.'
