The campaign for animal protection and welfare legislation has quickly built momentum since its launch last November at Parliament.
In just two short months 5,987 people have signed the petition, 1,313 letters have been sent to the government, more than 20,000 flyers and brochures have been distributed, numerous pieces have appeared in the media, and hundreds of volunteers have given their time.
This isn't about the wishes of only a few people - it is now becoming a national movement!
On 19 December the Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Dr. Hussein Hajj Hassan, issued a decision forming an official committee composed of Ministry staff and representatives of Animals Lebanon.
This committee is tasked with reviewing the draft and getting it to the next stage of the process within three months. So often these draft laws are delayed or forgotten, but the government has not disappointed us.
Getting any law enacted is a long and difficult process, but the overwhelming support is motivating us to never give up.
From websites displaying ads, a photo shoot with Fashion Beirut and university students campaigning on campus, the community is showing us all of the different ways they back the campaign.
