Animal welfare legislation press conference

On 4 March, at the Radisson hotel, Animals Lebanon held a press conference to explain the importance of having national legislation for animal welfare ? and the important work being done to make sure these laws are drafted and enacted.

No less than eight television stations covered the press conference, and the room was packed full of other journalists, NGO representatives, and friends and supporters of Animals Lebanon.  This shows just how important of an issue this is to the general public, and that animal welfare is not something which can be overlooked.

Animals Lebanon is working to make Lebanon a regional leader in animal welfare.  The Minister of Agriculture, HE Dr. Hussein Hajj Hassan, has expressed his intention to have Lebanon join CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.  The Ministry is also working with Animals Lebanon to carry out a national conference on animal welfare in conjunction with the European Commission.

Please watch the short film that was shown during the press conference, where Lebanese actresses Carmen Lebbos, Nada Abu Farhat and Anjo Rihane speak up in support of animals ? and Animals Lebanon!
