This October 4th, Lebanon Celebrated World Animal Day with Animals Lebanon and Lana El-Khalil, the Lebanese Ambassador for World Animal Day. Animals Lebanon founders, staff and volunteers came together throughout Beirut to speak up for the animals.
Recently there have been many comments and a lot of attention on the issue of stray and homeless dogs. Most of this seems to have been a result of a person being attacked and injured by a dog in the south of Lebanon, as well as subsequent statements made by the prominent cleric Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah.
When new life is brought on to the earth, it is usually a cause of celebration and joy. But for the homeless animals on the streets of Lebanon, this means a large population of newly born kittens who face sickness, starvation, injuries, cruelty, and for many, death.
Located in the Chouf mountains, Ecovilalge was host to our recent PAL event. An hours drive from Beirut, and a short trip down a bumpy road in a four wheel drive truck, we arrived to the beautiful forested valley. Ecovillage is an ecotourism project great for education and bringing people closer to nature.
This week Animals Lebanon will be part of this uplifting social event. The Garden Show management sponsored the stand for AL, and their generosity gives us great exposure to the thousands of people who come to the five day outdoor event.
