Spay Day 2010

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

In recognition of Spay Day International, throughout February Animals Lebanon is taking spaying and neutering to a new level.

Lebanon lacks animal welfare laws which should protect stray or homeless animals, but we are not letting this stop us.  Spaying and neutering is the most effective and humane way to control and care for the thousands of cats and dogs that live on the streets.

Animals Lebanon is bringing Dr. Sheryl Hendrick all the way from Holland to help make this February special.  Through a grant from WSPA – World Society for the Protection of Animals, Animals Lebanon and Dr Hendrick will work with local vets to help neuter populations of homeless animals living in Beirut.  A hoarding situation involving 80 cats will be transformed into a healthy group of animals that have all been neutered and vaccinated.  A local school is embracing the cats living on campus and will work with Animals Lebanon to make sure the animals are healthy and protected.  These two projects are just part of the work Dr. Hendrick will carry out to help make the homeless animals in Lebanon happy and healthy, and to prevent the suffering which too often occurs.

Our TNR voucher program is also getting an upgrade this February as the first 50 vouchers will be available at half price!  If you are caring for animals on the street now is your chance to have them neutered and vaccinated before more kittens or puppies are born.  We can help you catch dogs and cats you are caring for, and once the surgery is done we can show you how to make sure the animals stay healthy and safe.

Animals Lebanon will be holding a presentation for all the students at the Wellspring school. Students will learn about spaying and neutering, and some of our friendliest cats will be there to help show the students how to care for pets and the joy they can bring.

We know not everyone has even heard about the benefits of spaying and neutering.  That’s why we will be out and about on Spay Day, 23 February, spreading the message.  There is a special surprise offer available, so when you see the Animals Lebanon volunteers around town come say hello.  You can learn more about how spaying and neutering saves lives, and have a chance to win a special gift.

So join us this month in celebrating Spay Day International – your cat or dog will thank you for it!.

That's great news. Tears came in to my eyes when i read about the people at school which takes care of the cats at the campus. That's why you do all that hard and good work...i hope that all the people in Lebanon will take a good look at those people and learn from them (and you ofcourse, the volunteers/people from AL) so animals will get a better life in Lebanon.
People of AL ...... i am very proud at all of you, and all the work that you are doing out "there" !!!!
Greetings from Margreet ......the owner of Aphrodite and Raisin (that's the name you gave them in Lebanon but in Holland i call them Diets and Sien....because the name you gave them are so diffucult to pronounce "here").
